Designing at the Edge of Water
Water is both an essential element of life and one of architecture’s greatest challenges. It shapes landscapes, defines boundaries, and influences the way buildings are designed, constructed, and experienced.

WATERBOUND invites architects and designers to explore the relationship between water and the built environment through the design of an experimental architectural pavilion.

The competition challenges participants to reconsider the boundaries between wet and dry, inside and outside, exposure and protection. How can architecture embrace water as a spatial experience while controlling its movement and impact? Can the principles of waterproofing, permeability, and protection become sources of architectural creativity?

Participants are encouraged to develop innovative proposals in which water is not simply an external condition to resist, but an active element of the architectural concept.

Through this exploration, WATERBOUND aims to demonstrate how thoughtful design, material innovation, and technical performance can come together to create meaningful architectural experiences.

Design the boundary. Challenge the limits.
Rethink the relationship between water and architecture.
