How Little Is Enough?
Can the value of architecture be measured by the cost of its construction?
Architecture is often associated with resources, scale, and complexity. Yet some of its most meaningful expressions emerge from the simplest ideas and the most limited means.

$10K Shelter challenges conventional perceptions of architectural value by exploring what can be achieved when financial limitations become a catalyst for creativity rather than a constraint on ambition.

With a maximum construction budget of $10K, participants are invited to rethink the fundamental idea of shelter and investigate the relationship between resources, design intelligence, and spatial experience.

The competition does not prescribe a specific site, function, scale, or architectural language. Instead, it encourages participants to define their own understanding of shelter, from the most elemental form of protection to innovative spaces for human experience.

The challenge is not to design the cheapest possible structure, but to demonstrate how thoughtful design, material intelligence, and architectural imagination can create meaningful spaces with minimal resources.

$10K Shelter is not simply a competition about building for less.
It is an exploration of how architecture can achieve more with less.
